چکیده

Received (received date) Revised (revised date) Large spatial density fluctuations in high-energy heavy-ion collisions can come from many sources: initial transverse density fluctuations, non-central collisions, phase transitions , surface tension, and fragmentations. The common presence of some of these sources in high-energy heavy-ion collisions suggests that large scale density fluctuations may often occur. The detection of large density fluctuations by single-event Hanbury-Brown-Twiss interferometry in heavy-ion collisions will provide useful information on density fluctuations and the dynamics of heavy-ion collisions.

Detection of Single Photon Emission by Hanbury-Brown Twiss Interferometry

We prepare a solution of nano-diamond particles on a glass microscope slide with a target concentration of 1 × 10 M. Using a confocal microscope, we observe photons emitted from the particles via excitation from a pulsed 532 nm solid state laser at 840 μW. A Hanbury Brown and Twiss interferometer is used to probe these photons for evidence of antibunching. At this time, we did not observe antib...

INTRODGTION TO INTENSITY INTERFEROMETRY FOR NUCLEAR - PARTICLE PHYSICISTS ' Alan Katz

The Hanbury-Brown and Twiss method for measuring the radii of stars also has interesting applications in other realms of physics. Intensity interferometry, the technique used by Hanbury-Brown and Twiss for their star measurements, should yield analogous information about the angular .-sizes of excited particles and nuclei, which emit secondary particles. In this report, we interpret such emissi...

Hanbury-Brown Twiss Interferometry in Ultrarelativistic Heavy Ion Collisions

We discuss the elementary physics of the final state Coulomb interactions in HanburyBrown Twiss interferometry, showing – with explicit comparison to E877 data for π+π− and π±p – that the Coulomb corrections in the pair correlation function can be well understood in terms of simple classical physics. We connect the classical picture with descriptions in terms of Coulomb wave functions, and inve...

Correlations in STAR: interferometry and event structure

STAR observes a complex picture of RHIC collisions where correlation effects of different origins – initial state geometry, semi-hard scattering, hadronization, as well as final state interactions such as quantum intensity interference – coexist. Presenting the measurements of flow, mini-jet deformation, modified hadronization, and the Hanbury Brown and Twiss effect, we trace the history of the...
